Sweet 16

Happy Birthday to my Ally who turns sweet 16 today!

It sounds like such a cliche - but it's true - where did the time go?
(So many of you have watched her grow up over the years as she has always been my #1 helper at the flea markets.  Unfortunately, at 16 - she doesn't want to come out as much any more so I gladly accept whenever she does offer to help. )

Kindergarten Days to.....

High School Days.....

Even at 16 - Ally proudly voices her obsession with being a Harry Potter fan.
So how could she turn 16 without Emma Watson,
 joining her for the celebration.
(Sorry for the bad pic! Not sure what happened??)

Happy Birthday Ally.

Isn't it summer?

You would never have known it was summer yesterday at the Long Beach Flea Market. It was sooo cold!

My wonderful friend Cheryl volunteered to come help me at the market. I was so worried about her sitting out in the hot sun all day (I'm used to the flea summer days), that I packed my battery operated fan, just in case.

Ha! Definitely no need for my fan. But even with each of us wrapping a curtain around us for warmth, Cheryl and I spent the day laughing at just about anything and everything. Here is a glimpse treasures from my booth.

Don't you love this collection of old letter openers?

I can only wish I was using one of these maps
this summer while touring France.
With 2 kids in college and college tuitions due, a trip to France probably won't be on the calendar anytime in the near future.

I love this collection of matchbooks.

I actually found a large plate at another vendor's booth yesterday
to match my Italian pink coasters.

Remember, "A day without laughter is a day wasted."

Fireworks and Festivities!

I make no excuses or apologies for not blogging for over 6 months.  It's just called Living Life.

So no looking back, just forward.  Happy 4th of July.  A great day to combine fireworks and festivities!

I love the look of Old Glory gracing a home all year around. Here she flies proudly in my front yard. (My husband hates that I like to leave my flag up 24/7.  He likes to honor the rule of only flying a flag at night when it is properly lit.  Sorry, but he looses this one.)

Probably seems a little over kill - but when you enter my home you are welcomed by the a vintage stars and stripes flag backdropped against a old tin star. This flag stays up all year and only comes down at Christmas time when I hang a wreath on the star.

Gracing the table for the BBQ.

What's a 4th of July celebration without some sweets!

One of my absolute favorite items ever bought at a flea market was amazing flag bunting, I got it about 5 years ago in Texas at my favorite out of the way flea market.  The lady was asking $3 and I knew it was such a steal, I gave her more.  She must have thought I was crazy.

Happy 4th of July!
